Lifestyle Reminders for Fall

As the temperatures continues to drop, so does our energy and motivation to stay active and healthy. How many of you stop going to gym when it’s too cold or too dark outside? I personally don’t enjoy the cold and have the urge to hibernate once it’s below 65 degrees… serious side effects of the cold.

There’s a few lifestyle habits we should keep in mind to make sure we don’t fall into that deep dark hole we call winter. Keep reading if you need a lifestyle refresh for this season!

Drink more water

Water is one of those things we don’t take enough advantage of. It’s natural and purified and is the perfect way to detox our bodies. Too often we can feel lethargic and develop headaches, lots of times it’s due to dehydration! Not drinking enough water daily can impact our lives in more ways than we realize. It is recommended to drink up to two liters of water a day. If you struggle to do this, try to keep a water bottle handy. Not only can it help us feel better, it can improve our mood, our skin and even help slow the signs of aging.

Stay Active

Not all of us are totally motivated to exercise every day. But once you get over that initial hurdle of just getting yourself to the gym, you’ll wonder why you didn’t start sooner. That first step is always the hardest. Exercise is proven to help with mood and energy levels. During workouts your body will release endorphins that make you feel much more contented. Sometimes you just need to research the most popular gym and fitness center around and take the plunge to sign up. You may even make some new friends and find it creates a whole new social arena for you.

Be mindful of your diet

Diet is one of the key issues when it comes to your lifestyle. The food you eat and the things you drink can have a huge impact on you physically and mentally. Too much junk food can zap your energy levels whereas drinking too much alcohol can have a harmful effect on your mood and mindset. While it’s important to remember that life is too short, you should consider doing these things in moderation. Your diet isn’t about stopping yourself from enjoying those treats, but more about ensuring you nourish your body with everything it needs to function.

Develop a good mindset

Finally, it can be your mindset and attitude that causes you the most problems when it comes to making a lifestyle change. You may begin to think that you shouldn’t bother or severely lack in the motivation to do things. However, these are all negative thoughts and something you should consider changing. It’s a habit to think negatively just as it is to think positively. Try and look at things in a different way and start to see the good in any situation.

I know I’ll be reminding myself about all of these things in the next few months… because WINTER IS COMING! Yup, really just wanted to say that =p (I’m finally almost caught up on Game of Thrones!) Leave me a comment and let me know how you try to stay healthy and active during the colder months.
