Why I Started A Youtube Channel || Ready Set Happy

Hi fitsters! I’m here to check in on you and remind you to get a move on your 2017 goals if you still feel like you haven’t totally accomplished them yet. As for me, I’m already well on my way to making new goals for 2018!

Read on if you want to know why I started a Youtube channel.

One of my ongoing “resolutions” has always been to get better at public speaking, improve my self-confidence, and to become less shy. Contrary to what some people who know me in person might believe, I’m actually quite shy (although I’m an extrovert – so I do like being around people). I often feel social anxiety when I’m the center of attention or having to speak in front of a crowd. Large meetings and client presentations make me want to crawl in a hole and never come out.

Over the years I’ve tried to find ways to cope with the anxiety (lots of breathing exercises) and I’m even able to appear “outgoing” when I’m really not (faking it is really tiring though but necessary in certain situations). Working in digital media, being outgoing and friendly is almost a must-have, both in dealing with clients and associating with coworkers. My ability to turn this must-have trait on and off has gotten much, much better with practice. With it, I try my best to appear as confident as I can but I know I have a lot to work on.

So with all this in mind, I’ve taken the plunge to finally start a Youtube channel. I have always wanted to create one even before the existence of this blog, but I’ve been fearful. 2017 for me has been a year of self-discovery, of taking risks, of letting go. So in 2018, I want to be fearless. I don’t care if no one reads or watches my content, because for me, the process of creating something and making it public is enough. In this process, I hope to forget about validation, but really to create content that I enjoy. I also hope that I will get more comfortable speaking in front of a camera, and eventually speaking in front of a crowd. At the end of the day, I want to do what I love, overcome my fears, and have fun while doing it.

My Youtube channel will include all lifestyle aspects like fashion, beauty, and travel while this blog will remain wellness focused. My very first video (up now!) is a try-on clothing haul of what I added to my Fall wardrobe. If you are interested in seeing another side of me, head over to my Youtube channel. I’m always open to suggestions and comments and as always, thank you for your continued support! <3
